This is WMAC’s premier site, catering for all outdoor model classes. It is held by arrangement with the NZ Army. We share this field with the Army, the National Rifle Association and Wellington Rifle Association, who use it regularly for weekend shooting and may well be there during this event.
Consequently, several of the rules and operating procedures that follow have been written to meet these other users' specific safety and security concerns. Failure to observe them to the letter could lead, among other things, to our no longer having access to Seddon Range. At the very least, any such failure will be treated as a breach of Club discipline and dealt with accordingly. These will also be covered at the briefing.
- Think safety and respect fellow fliers at all times. We shall trust you to have mechanically sound
machines that are air worthy. - NZMAA membership is a legal requirement or join the club on the day to have this covered.
- Speed limit on the gravel road in and around the range is 20km/h.
- No engine starts before 9am (The Prison Inmates need sleep {sigh}).
- The frequency board will be used at all times. You must have a peg to turn on your TX, including users on 2.4GHz.
- Do not drive or park on the mounds.
- No hovering within 15m of the pits.
- No Flying with out a spotter if you don't yet have a Wings Badge.
- No flying over any cars, the pits, an active firing line or spectators at any time.
- No flyers allowed past the 500m mound, unless escorted by a member of the WMAC organising
team. No exceptions (the shooters may use you as a target). - If any machine goes down on prison property see a member of the WMAC organising team
for retrieval process - don’t even think about climbing the fence.
